RADAR has limits on how much each person and each workspace can use. The Usage page shows where you stand against them, and which members have used RADAR the most. Every member of the organization can open it.

What the limits are

There are three limits. All of them are rolling windows: they count back from now, not from midnight. The limits are the same on every plan and for every role. A turn is one message you send to RADAR. Turns that fail or are stopped count too. Spend is what the answers and the background jobs cost. Whichever of the two reaches its cap first is the limit you hit. A turn counts as one turn at every quality level, but a High or Max turn can cost much more than a Normal one, so those levels use up the dollar limits faster. A single turn is capped at $2 on Normal, $5 on High and $10 on Max, so two Max turns can use up one person's $20 for the day. Because the daily workspace limit is $20, one person can use up the workspace’s day on their own. If your workspace was given extra on top of the 50,the30dayrowsays∗∗Includes50, the 30 day row says **Includes X added to this workspace**. Two more limits keep RADAR from doing too much at once. You can have two questions being answered at the same time, and your workspace can have three. If you send a third while two of yours are running, RADAR asks you to wait for one to finish, or to stop one, and then send it again. If your workspace already has three running, RADAR says it is busy and asks you to try again in a moment.
The limits are checked when you send a message. An answer that is already running is not cut off when a limit is reached. It finishes, and the limit applies to your next message.

The Usage page

The page has two cards.

RADAR usage limits

This card has one row for each limit above. Each row shows two bars:
  • Turns: how many turns have been used out of the cap.
  • Spend: how many dollars have been spent out of the cap.
Under the Turns bar, a short note says when a place frees up, for example Frees up in about 12 min. Under the Spend bar, the note says Frees up in about … once the dollar limit is reached. Below its dollar limit, a daily row shows Nothing spent yet. when nothing was spent, and otherwise no note under Spend. The 30 day row has no turn limit and says No turn limit. Its spend note tells you when the total starts to go down. A row turns red when its limit is reached. It then says Limit reached (turns) or Spending limit reached (dollars), who is blocked, and how long until a place frees up. At the bottom, Research this month shows what RADAR spent on outside data it looked up for you. It is shown for information and is not one of the three limits, and it is not shown when nothing was spent. If it could not be read, the card says so instead of showing zero. Research has its own limits: $2 a day and $25 a month for the workspace, and an Admin can set a monthly budget for each research connector. See Connectors.

Usage by member

A table of the whole organization over the last 30 days. For each member it shows:
  • Chats: the conversations they sent messages in.
  • Messages: the turns they sent.
  • Share: their part of all messages in the organization.
Click a column heading to sort. Your own row is marked (you). Members who have left the organization are grouped as Former members. The numbers refresh every minute while the page is open.

When you are close to a limit

From 80 percent of a limit on, a quiet count appears beside the send button in the field. It tells you what is left of the fullest limit, for example 35 left today, $4 left today** or **Under $1 left today. Hover over it to read the full sentence, for example how many of your 30 turns you have used. Click it to open the Usage page. The count never stops you from sending. It is only a heads-up. You can also open the Usage page by typing /usage in the field. The + menu starts with a line such as “Usage: 3 of 30 turns today”.

When you reach a limit

Once a limit is reached, a line above the field says so, for example “You have used your 30 turns for today. Messages are not sent until a place frees up in about 12 min.” If you send anyway, the message is not sent, and RADAR tells you which limit it was and when it frees up:
  • Your limit: “You have reached today’s limit of 30 turns. Try again at 14:20.” If it is your dollar limit, it reads “You have reached today’s limit of 20 dollars for RADAR.”
  • Your workspace’s day: “Your workspace has reached today’s limit of 20 dollars for RADAR. Try again tomorrow at 09:05.” If it is the workspace’s turn limit, it reads “Your workspace has reached today’s limit of 600 turns.”
  • Your workspace’s 30 days: “Your workspace has reached its limit of 50 dollars for the last 30 days. It frees up on 21 Oct.”
The time is in your own time zone.

When sending works again

Nothing resets at a fixed hour. Room comes back as old use falls out of the window:
  • For turns, a place frees up when your oldest turn in the window is more than 24 hours old.
  • For spend, the limit frees up when enough of the oldest spend has aged out to bring the total back under the cap.
The Usage page shows the same wait on the row that is full. Once the time has passed, send your message again.
A teammate’s use counts toward the workspace limits, not toward yours. If the message says your workspace has reached its limit, waiting for the time it names is the only fix. Your own count may still have room.
